Sports News
| ESPN - Get all of your breaking news, scoreboards, expert commentary and fantasy sports games at ESPN, the Worldwide
Leader in Sports. Covers all of the major sports, including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf and ice hockey. Far
and away the king of this category. |
Sporting News - In-depth coverage of all of the major professional and college sports. Offers both free and premium content,
including a large suite of fantasy sports games. |
Sports Illustrated - Formerly, CNNSI.com, the newly-branded SI.com does an excellent job of combining original web content with the
columns and stories which appear in the weekly magazine. |
FoxSports - Much like its parent television network, FoxSports offers quality sports news content but with a "flashier" feel
than others in this category. Offers a plethora of audio and video highlights for broadband users. |
CBS SportsLine - SportsLine offers the same comprehensive sports news coverage as its competitors, but the site design and layout
leave much to be desired. This isn't your destination for breaking news, but SportsLine does occasionally post unique editorial
content. |
Professional Sports
| National Basketball Association - Probably the most entertaining professional sports league site, NBA.com not only offers league and players news,
but also connects with its fan base through features such as Virtual GM and Triple-Double. This is also your home for NBA
gear from any of the 30 NBA teams. |
National Football League - Contains the standard package of news, stats and scores, plus television schedules for the upcoming 2003 season.
NFL.com also provides a suite of fantasy football games, all powered by CBS Sportsline. |
Major League Baseball - MLB.com represents heaven for baseball fanatics. Live scores and player stats are just the beginning; this site
also offers comprehensive game audio/video packages for the true baseball junkie. Includes hard-to-find information on the
minor leagues and the MLB draft. |
National Hockey League - In-depth hockey news is not easy to come by, but this should be the hockey fan's first stop for news, scores
and stats. Includes a unique section which breaks down the history of the game as well as the NHL rulebook. |
Professional Golfer's Association - Covers all of the Tours, including the PGA, LPGA and European versions. Appeals to the seasoned golf fan with
updated leaderboards and features for each Major tournament, while also catering the newbie with special sections on learning
to play the game. |
College Sports
| NCAA Sports - This site, more entertaining than its parent site NCAA.org, has been recently redesigned and now includes a wealth
of news and information on every intercollegiate sport. Not your best choice for the mainstream sports, but a great option
for less-popular sports such as Rifle and Gymnastics. |
Official College Sports Network(OCSN) - If your favorite college athletic program has an official website, chances are that OCSN designs and hosts it.
Just look through the "Partners" section, choose your school, and head off to your destination for school-specific news. |
College Sports - CollegeSports.com it the news branch of OCSN, the Official College Sports Network. Features in-depth recruiting
news, team pages and also contributions from national sports columnists. |
National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) - The NCAA's administrative website. This is your destination for information on NCAA governance, rules, and the
NCAA Hall of Champions. If you are looking for college sports news, NCAA.org is not the place to start. |
