Systran - Systran has what is probably the best free, automatic translator on the Web. Although even the "best" automatic translator is never recommended if you really need quality translation. English, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.

Freetranslation.com - Text only - Translates pasted text only. See next link for Web pages. The good thing here is that after you evaluate the quality provided by the automatic translation, you're offered the option to hire human translation services. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Chinese.

Freetranslation.com - Web pages - The same as above, but this page translates any Web page on line indicated by a link. The link above is the right page if you want to paste text and have it translated. You can also hire human translation services. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Chinese.

Babel / Altavista - Two very well-known names providing free translation together. Very popular. Translates pasted text or a Web page indicated by a link. English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.

Reverso - Translates pasted text or a Web page indicated by a link. They also provide a feedback form in the same page, so you can easily send them a message and let them know what you think of their services immediately. Translates English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Their strict rules and extremely serious attitude in favor of this ancient profession ensure numerous top-level professionals in their ranks. Here is their directory.

ITI - The Institute of Translation and Interpreting, in UK, is another very serious association, and another good source of referrals to serious-minded professionals and procurers. Their FAQ - http://www.iti.org.uk/documents/faq.html - is direct, concise and very informative.

Infomarex - Very old fashioned Web page style look. But they maintain a newsletter, a mailing list, they are popular among translators and have good professionals in their database, which is nothing more than a list of names with language pairs. The names are links to each professional's own Web page or site.

translate.com.tw - translate.com.tw manages to keep a database of professional translators from many parts of the world. Particularly useful if you're after a professional that can handle an unusual language combination.
