Official Subaru Websites
| Subaru USA - Obviously, this site is good for Americans. It includes a dealer locater, online brouchures, and mini-articles
about Subaru engineering, affiliations, and Subaru owners' outdoor life. This site, along with every official Subaru site,
is very Flash-oriented. |
Subaru Japan - Another important site for Subaru, their Japanese home market site features many strange models that are not
sold anywhere else, like the Pleo, Traviq, and Legacy Touring Specialty. Of course, the site is in Japanese, so I'm not sure,
but I imagine it contains the same features as the US site. |
Subaru UK - This is the British Subaru site. Another Flash-heavy site, it showcases the same models that are sold in the
US, but with a heavier emphasis on rallying. It is a very complete site, and is set up better than the US site. Included is
everything from a dealer locator to insurance and parts. |
Subaru Global/ Worldwide Network - This site contains a link to every one of the 36 worldwide Subaru sites, including the three mentioned above.
There are 2 African sites, 5 Asia/ Pacific sites, 8 North and South America sites, and 21 European sites. |
Subaru Reviews and Opinions
| New Car Test Drive - Containing impartial test drive information for Subarus dating back to 1994, New Car Test Drive is a valuable
resource to review before you buy. It currently features 25 Subaru test drves. |
Car Survey - This is definitely the best peer review site. It has reviews of Subarus by former owners from all around the
world. It features 450 reviews of 19 models. It is also frequently updated, so if you can't find a review for your car's model
and year, just wait and it might arrive. |
Epinions - Epinions is a well known peer review site. Although there are only 110 Subaru reviews, not as many as Car Survey
(above), Epinions covers hundreds of categories, from motorcycles to washing machines, and I believe only accepts their reviews
(which are generally longer) from the US. |
Car and Driver - This popular print magazine has an extensive online collection of new car reviews. Select your new Subaru model,
and this great resource does the rest. Included are expansive guides to all four new Subarus. |
Buying a Subaru
| eBay Motors - Subaru - eBay Motors features hundreds of cars for very low auction prices. Right now people are selling over 150 Subarus,
at varying prices. Subarus regularly retail for thousands of dollars under the suggested price. |
Kelley Blue Book - To find the suggested price, Kelley Blue Book is undoubtably the best internet resource. Never pay above the
price that this impartial free service decides upon. Because KBB sorts by zip code and year before make, you will have to
fill it out yourself to find a fair price for a new or used Subaru. |
Auto Trader - Used Car Search - Finding a great used car site in your area can always be hard, so most countries have a few locally-based car
websites. For the English, Auto Trader is a great resource. It currently has over 200 used Subarus, and it's also an excellent
place to find a new Subaru. |
AutoByTel - Used Cars - For Americans, there are many internet car services, but this one stands out above the rest. It has a huge selection
of hundreds of Subarus, and has served thousands of people. Like many online car services, Autobytel is branching out into
new car quotes and insurance. |
Subaru Repair & Replacement Parts
| Subaru Parts - When looking for hard-to-find parts for replaced or discontinued models, you may be forced to buy high-priced
or bad quality goods. Here, you find parts for some more older models, like the SVX and the older Imprezas. Other parts are
hard to find, though, because this site is not easily navigable. |
Trade Motion Subaru Parts - Trade Motion offers quality parts for many makes, and Subaru is no exception. Trade Motion also includes performance
parts from SPT and STi, which is Subaru's official partner. Unfortunately, Trade Motion only has parts for new Subarus and
late-models. |
Subaru Automotive Parts - SAP has many parts, including internals, air-conditioning, and body parts. Unique to this bunch is their budget-oriented
offerings like used and salvaged parts. Their site is straightforward and easy to navigate. |
Subaru Aftermarket Parts & Accessories
| Subaru Technica International - One of the most famous companies in motorsport, STi is directly affiliated with Subaru and produces parts for
subaru models. The powerful Impreza WRX STi Version was put into regular production after winning many rallies. After 8 years
of production, it just recently began being sold in the USA. |
Scooby Mods - Links - ScoobyMods is an enthusiast community for Subaru affectionados. This is their links page, which links to hundreds
of Subaru parts manufacturers. |
Subaru Accessories - Accessories to add both personality and practicality to your Subaru are in abundance at Subaru Accessories. These
parts range from bush guards, foglights, and bike racks to sound systems and alarms. The site is easy to find your way around,
and full of quality parts. |
Subaru Review - Links - Subaru Review, which is a great site itself, an enthusiast community with peer reviews of hundreds of aftermarket
Subaru products, has compiled a libnks page that you must see to believe. The enormous listing comprises everything from accessories
to full-blown turbos and body kits. |
Subaru Impreza or WRX
| Impreza RS - The Impreza 2.5 RS was a performance Impreza even before the WRX, and well before the brand-new STi. It was never
as fast, but it held its own. Similarly, this site, while certainly not the best, is still a good place to go for genereal
Impreza news. The interface is a little overwhelming at first. |
Subaru WRX - This page, while unfortunately full of ads, provides a good, Australian based resource on the base WRX. It contains
up-to-date news and information. |
WRX Tuners - This site is biased towards the needs of the WRX owner interested in going even faster, whether in racing or
on the street. It offers huge guides with hundreds of pictures for everyting from tuning to racing. This one's invaluable
if you're planning on winning. |
Impreza WRX STi - This burgeoning message board is full of anticipation. The site was put up just months ago about the new, powerful,
North American WRX STi. Evebn though the car is barely out, limited production, and markups are reportedly huge, this site
is thriving with both casual enthusiasts and real owners. |
Impreza WRX STi 555 - The rarest Impreza of them all, the 555 was made in very limited numbers in 1995 to celebrate Colin McRae's rally
win. This informative site, made by the lucky owner if a 555, is interesting, and the pictures are drool-inducing for an STi
fan. All in all, this is a good site covering all Imprezas. |
Other Subaru Models
| Subaru Legacy Outback - The Legacy Outback is an SUV for people who don't like SUVs, capable of trekking offroad and crossing streams,
but also car-sized and safe. This site is devoted to that perfect balance between truck and car called the Outback. |
Subaru Legacy B4 RSK - There is a whole other side to Subaru's best seller, the Legacy. The performance oriented B4 RSK, not sold in
America, was tuned by Porsche, rare, and, of course, very pricey. This site is devoted to the performance legacy of the Legacy. |
Subaru SVX - The SVX was the follow-up to the strange XT (see below), and is arguably stranger, with its black glass roof
and window-inside-a-window styling. This AWD coupe has a small but devoted fan following, and the site is interesting and
informative. |
Subaru Forester - This solid vehicle is well made and a strong seller, coming in a close 2nd behind the Legacy, but nonetheless,
not exactly the sort of car that you would expect to have a fan club. Even so, someone put together a very useful collection
of links regarding the Forester, and that can be viewed here. |
